The Region

The Brussels-Capital Region

The Brussels-Capital Region (BCR), whose population is growing rapidly, faces various challenges:

  • demographic growth;
  • the development of the economy, employment, training and education;
  • transport;
  • the need to combat the polarisation of the city and poverty;
  • quality of life;
  • housing;
  • internationalisation.

The Regional authorities therefore have powers in, among other areas, regional and urban planning, housing, the environment, transport, economic development and research.

The Region has chosen ten priority intervention zones, one of which is the Reyers site. The regional goal is to develop a new district that is creative, diverse and lively: mediapark.brussels.

The Brussels-Capital Region Minister-President is represented in the mediapark.brussels steering group.
